SCENIC, S.D. (AP) - Pennington County records show that a church based in the Philippines is the buyer of a western South Dakota town put up for sale.

Scenic was once known as a Wild West town next to the Badlands.

Documents show that a Filipino church called Iglesia Ni Cristo, or Church of Christ, paid $700,000 for the property. The church's website shows congregations in dozens of countries and 42 states, with U.S. offices in a San Francisco suburb.

The church hasn't commented on the purchase. Realtor Dave Olson says he signed a nondisclosure agreement and can't talk about the buyer or the buyer's plans.
